"We don’t wish to preserve the ashes, we want to feed the fire!"

The first part of this work records the most important testimonies about the Asil Arabian and the Bedouin breeders of the Arabia Deserta, written by important authors - short and in Latin: experts.
This rich collection of quotations contains the general arguments in support of the Asil Arabian. The serious current problems which made the Asil Club’s work urgently necessary will be dealt with in the third section.

Following the lists of Honorary Members, The Board of Directors, Promotive Members, and the details of Membership and of the Definition of the club, the chapters Why we founded the Asil Club and Asil Arabians - Diamonds without inclusions - Are Pure-bred Arabians asil? will analyse and answer the essential questions of international Arabian breeding. To refute the arguments put forward by the WAHO is of special interest in these chapters.
”Although our achievements in breeding are immediately convincing and invite imitation, we cannot allow our good deeds to simply speak for themselves - by such an attitude many elites have already declined. The truth is rather in need of advocates, supporters, and missionaries too.” (from the foreword to Asil Arabians III).
Thus the Asil Club has to serve as an advocate who rather supports exceptional than ordinary concepts of public relations in order to create a ”show-case” for Asil breeding: the Asil Cup International. This largest show of Asil Arabian horses in Europe has gained world-wide reputation, notably with prominent Arab personalities. This event fascinates the public with its varied performances and its multi-faceted folklore - The Asil Cup International has become a social event.
It is an essential aim of the club to see nobility in the appropriate interaction between character, performance and type. For this reason the chapter The (Dis)pleasure of Showing or: From war-horse to show-horse to no horse? precedes the section about the Asil Cup International.
The members of the club have met annually at various studs in Germany, Luxembourg, Austria and Switzerland. During various seminars that included commentated presentations of stud horses and lectures by experts, the members learned a lot, gained experience, discussed problems, and got to know and to appreciate each other. (see also Asil Club Meetings and Stud Presentations)
The enthusiast of the Arabian horse seeks a community of people with same interest whose activities represent responsibility for the heritage for the Asil Arabian horse, a piece of heritage of Arabian culture, and not just marketing concepts. During the Asil Club annual meetings this fundamental attitude is continually reinforced by the committee.
Particular attention should be given to the sections on Performance Records, Willingness to Perform, Rideability, Performance and Stallion Performance Tests - Asil Arabians in comparison with other Pure-bred Arabians. Their results speak for themselves.
The wish of many members to demonstrate the success of their horses at other events has been gladly granted. Finally, we have to clear up the misunderstanding that other Arabian bloodlines such as the Polish, Russian etc. - which, in any case, can thank the Asil Arabian for their qualities - have the advantage at Arabian shows. Considering the small number of Asils in comparison to other pure-bred Arabians, the show successes of the Asils are also significant. They are as clear to see as the successes in the performance tests.
The chapters mentioned above show:
Asil Breeding - is not just pedigree breeding, not crossbreeding, but breeding of thoroughly honest, genuine Arabians.
Asil Breeding - is not a fashion, not a new breeding philosophy, but pure breeding of strong-nerved performance horses.
Asil Breeding - is not breeding for catwalk beauty, but breeding for the type of the noble desert Arabian.
